Wednesday 9th June 2004
Mr Bem visited me at breakfast. I told him the area behind my right ear was sore. He inspected it and said it appeared swollen. He asked one of his doctors to make an incision at the back of my ear in this area and drain out any puss that may have collected there, then put a wick in to remove any further fluid that collected. This doctor carried out this procedure later that day. He did not find any puss but inserted a wick to be sure to drain any which may build up. I was put on a course of antibiotics to eradicate and prevent any further infection. Having a fair bit of pain from the redness on my chest Mr Bem said it is the nerve endings and these pains may last several weeks. Peter called to see me at teatime with Anthony. I called to the social work office at the hospital and asked for someone to visit me before I went home to see what help I could get. I was informed someone would call and see me before I went home.
