Thursday 29th April 2004
Got up, had a shower and then went to Bradford Royal Infirmary for my MRI and CT scans. All the nurses were really kind, got there at 09:30 and out for 12:30. Went to the local housing office in the afternoon to enquire about what I could claim. Nice Asian lady said I would be able to claim for my rent through them, also incapacity allowance. She filled in the forms for me and said I should go to the local job centre and they would sort out my incapacity and invalidity benefits. Went to the job centre and was later phoned by a young lady who took my details and said she would send out the relevant forms and also made me an appointment to see a lady at the job centre next Friday, to see that I had managed to fill them out correctly.

My ex-wife called at teatime with my youngest son Sam to see how I was. She also fetched me some strawberries, which was nice of her. She said that if I needed her, she would be there. My eldest two children, as well as my brother and sisters, all phoned to see how I was. Funny how your perspective changes, from being scared about having cancer last week to now hoping it’s only in my neck and then I can cope. Tomorrow is my pre-op visit prior to my minor surgery next week, when they will take out my right tonsil and other bits for biopsy. Funny, people have their tonsils out every day but I am still worried.
